is unquestionably one of Derby’s finest restaurants, both
for its food and its setting in a nineteenth century mill with
a beautiful waterside location by the River Derwent, making it
envied by many rival establishments. Main course dishes
include intricate delicacies such as daube of beef with
creamed cabbage and bacon, celeriac fondant, ravioli of oxtail
and a red wine and port reduction, or assiette of English lamb
served with black pudding and puy lentil jus. Expect to pay
around £18 per main course.
Menzies
Mickleover Court

stunning modern circular architecture of this luxury hotel
makes it difficult to miss. Apart from its great hotel
reputation, the award-winning Brasserie attracts plenty of
customers in its own right. The menu lists the likes of
slow-cooked belly of pork with a noodle stir-fry, followed by
a selection of tempting desserts you’ll find impossible to
resist.
Casa
Irongate, Derby, DE1 3FJ (01332 3419436) Situated
within a smart building that dates from around 1870 is the
café bar style restaurant known as Casa. Here you’ll find a
wonderfully diverse menu offering something for everyone at
reasonable prices. Even if you’re not interested in eating,
the bar is worthy of a look.
